The September 11 attacks greatly affected many people creating mental health problems across the United States. Many people suffered from anxiety disorders, such as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and depression for years after.
Having an emotional sounding board/emotional support, for survivors to share their experiences can boost resilience. Social support helps survivors by building up their sense of self-efficacy, i.e., belief in their ability to overcome obstacles and face challenges.
My heart go out to all of those who lost family members in the attacks, and those who are still re-living the events of that day like they occurred yesterday.
Take a deep breath and allow yourself to grieve today
