Unplug, Recharge, and Embrace the Summer Vibe

I have been calling my summer season, “Summer Slow-Down”, ever since I became a mom.  It is a season that calls us to soak up the sunshine, and revel in the simple pleasures of life. As a psychotherapist, trauma expert, and entrepreneur,  I know firsthand the importance of self-care and balance in maintaining good mental health. That's why, every summer, I take a step back, disconnect from technology, and dive into quality time with my loved ones and my own well-being. And let me tell you, it’s been a game-changer!

In today's fast-paced world, we're constantly bombarded with notifications, emails, and the pressure to always be connected. It's no wonder our minds feel cluttered, our attention scattered, and our real priorities get neglected. That's why I choose to unplug during summer and invest my time and energy in activities that nourish my soul and strengthen the bonds with my loved ones.

Taking a break from the endless scrolling and curated highlight reels allows us to reconnect with ourselves and embrace the beauty of our own lives. Instead of seeking validation or comparison through likes, unplugging allows us to nurture genuine connections and meaningful experiences.

While the digital detox is important, the heart of my summer break lies in being present with my family and friends. Our loved ones often bear the brunt of our hectic schedules and divided attention. So, during this special time, I make it a priority to create lasting memories, strengthen our bonds, and simply enjoy each other's company. Whether it's a campout in our backyard, a run in nature, or a heartfelt chat over ice cream, these moments remind me to slow down and savor the simple pleasures.

Of course, my summer detox also serves as a personal mental health retreat. As someone who works with emotional challenges and heavy stories every day, I know the importance of taking time off to relax, recharge, and indulge in self-care. Whether it's practicing mindfulness, diving into a good book, or losing myself in a favorite hobby, these moments of solitude and rejuvenation help me reset and refocus.

Don’t get me wrong, as a creative entrepreneur, I still have all the ideas, the plans, and the creativity always visualizing, it doesn’t stop, but I don’t put any pressure on myself to have to be productive.  I find that when I can let my mind drop away to be free, it allows my true awareness to flow through.

I invite you to join me in making a conscious effort to unplug, recharge, and embrace the laid-back summer vibes. Spend quality time with your loved ones, prioritize your mental health, and engage in activities that bring you pure joy and relaxation. Feel the warmth of the sun on your skin, hear the laughter of your family, and experience the peace that comes from disconnecting. Trust me, when you practice this daily, it becomes a healthy habit.  You'll feel rejuvenated, energized, and ready to tackle the rest of the year with a renewed sense of purpose.

Remember, summer is not just a season, but a state of mind. So, let's make the most of it by embracing the art of slowing down and prioritizing what truly matters. Unplug, recharge, and create memories that will keep you smiling all year long!

P.S:  I may have slowed down during the summer, but I’m still running daily and today is Day 975 of my run streak!
