My Mala Beads Chose Me

Make it stand out

Last Sunday, my mala beads chose me!

  📿

I’m listening with my full attention as she tells me; she sees me with mala beads the color of the golden sun. She’s my Reiki energy healer and that was three months ago at my very first Reiki Session. Something I have always wanted to try.

Mala beads are a string of beads traditionally used in meditation and prayer practices. "Mala" is a Sanskrit word that translates to “garland”. Mala beads have roots in various religious and spiritual traditions. They serve as a physical reminder of one's spiritual path and intentions, and they can be used as a tool for mindfulness, self-reflection, and spiritual connection.

A month later, I’m in Costa Rica, with another Reiki healer and after our session she tells me very similar readings and she adds,

“Mala beads chooses, and you will know when it chooses you ”.

So I didn’t buy one there. I thought about buying them online but I just couldn’t decide which one to get.

This Sunday, during our Shaolin Master Class, there was a table at the entrance.

There are bracelets and mala beads!

Really excited, I scan the table and all I saw were white beads, no yellow ones…

I pick up one of the last two white mala beads left and for some reason, I didn’t want to put it down. In my head, Im thinking, but you’re suppose to be yellow. I told myself, oh that’s okay, I’ll get this one and I’m sure I’ll find a yellow one elsewhere another time.

A lady comes to the table to tell me they are made of bodhi seeds by the Shaolin Monks and they are not for sale. They do accept donations in exchange. I gladly make a donation for my white mala beads.

I start to walk away, when one of the Shaolin Monks comes over to the table and whisper something to the lady’s ear. The lady tells me that he wants her to let me know (because he didn’t speak any English) as they get used -these beads will eventually turn yellow-gold. He raises his hand to show me his mala beads wrapped around his wrist. The same one as the one I had just gotten, and due to it being worn and used; it had overtime transformed to a beautiful golden yellow. ✨
